what occurs to the primary genitals?
to females:
ovaries get larger and ovulation starts
to males:
testes and scrotum enlarge and begin to produce sperm.
what occurs to the secondary sexual organs?
to females:
uterus, vagina and associated glands enlarge
menstruation becomes stable
to males:
penis and accessory glands grow and start to secrete giving rise to ‘wet dreams’.

to females:
growth spurt in height and weight
hips widen causing body shape to alter
to males:
growth spurt in height and weight, shoulder widen but hips remain slim.
what occurs to the voice (changes) ?
to females:
voice tends to become less shrill not usually considered a significant change.
to males:
rapid growth of voice box or larynx causes voice to change and become deeper in pitch.
what occurs to the tissue?
to females:
fat deposits under skin and around the breasts which lead to a curvaceous shape.
to males:
significant muscle development
intellectual development in adolescence years.

- people with a positive self-esteem- find it easier to make friends, accept their strengths and weaknesses.
- people with a negative self-esteem- focus only on their weaknesses and will be more self-critical.
