Roper Logan and Tierney’s Activities of daily living can be beneficial when completing admissions forms.
Name a few
Eating/Drinking: dietary requirements, religious beliefs, allergies, intolerances
Elimination: intolerance(how often bowel movement)
Breathing: asthmatic, COPD, smoking, medications(steroids)
Sleep: sleep disturbances, sleep apnea
Dying: DNAR, cultural practices, end of life care.
Communication: hearing aids, glasses for reading, interpreter for different languages.
Sexuality: loss of libdo due to mental health issues, medications etc
Mobility: mobility, aids, previous illness affecting balance, mobility(stroke), balance problems, dementia, arthritis
Washing/dressing: promote independence
Work/play: hobbies(help well being), back problems(labourer)
Safe environment: maintain safe environment for patients, i.e equipment, disabilities, dementia etc
Control body temperature: proper clothing, environment temperature appropriate
An patient with a long term condition can cause:
Poor diet
Lack of exercise
Inequality in services- inaccessible due to distance, limited services, discrimination
Stress
Unemployment
Social Isolation
Smoking/Drinking
Poor housing- over crowding, dampness, unsafe area
High crime
Lack of leisure services- gardens, parks, gyms, pools etc

Physical appearance, size, habits, preferences, beliefs, customs, traditions, family background, upbringing, dialect,language etc
What is equality
Treating everyone equal. Equality acts protect against discrimination such as: Age Disability Marriage and civil partnership Pregnancy and maternity Race Religion or belief Sex and sexual orientation
Reasons why patients don’t access health services
Location Opening hours Unable to meet patients needs Fear based on previous experiences Financial limitations Discrimination experienced
Inequalities in people’s health and social status
Socioeconomic status- poverty, disadvantage community.
Life circumstances- homelessness, in care, in prison
Social identity- women, man, ethnic background, sexual orientation, age
Health status- illness or having long term condition
Disability- impairment that effects ADL’s, physical disability, sensory impairment
Geography- deprived areas, remote areas
