Saying something is true by saying the opposite isn’t. (of someone 6’7”) Well, she isn’t short. (of someone exceptionally attractive) He’s not ugly, is he?
What is metonymy?
An kind of image where part of something represents the whole thing, or the whole thing represents part of it. ‘I saw a blonde walking down the street.’ (The hair represents the whole person.) ‘Liverpool beat Leeds.’ (The whole city represents the football club.)
