adaptive immune system Flashcards
two types of immunity in adaptice immune system
- passive immunity
- active immunity
what is passive immunity
- antibodies are given to you so you dont need to make memory cells
what is active immunity
you make antibodies, which also makes memory cells that provide long term immunity
what is the process of adaptive immune response
- macrophage englufs pathogen and presents the fragment on its surface
- helper T cell dete ts the presence of a foreign body from the macrophage
- then either the antibody mediated repose or cell mediated response is activated
antibody mediated response
releases cytokines which promotes Naive B cell to close and differentiate into:
- Plasma B cells
or
memory B cells
I remeber this cause anitBody and B cells
what does plasma B cells do?
Produce specific antibodies which help kill pathogen
what does memory B cells do?
stay in blood for many years and quickly differentiate into plasma B cells at the next exposure
cell mediated response
releases cytokines which promotes the naive T cell to clone and diiferentiate into:
cytotoxic T cells
or
Memory t cells
what does cytotoxic T cells do?
cause cell death in infected body cells
what do memory T cells do?
stay in blood for many years and quickly differentiate into cytotoxi t cells at the next exposure
