How does acute rumenal acidosis present?

A

Acute - ataxia, anorexia, dilated pupils
Peracute - severe ataxia or recumbency, blind, severe dehydration

Other signs: rumenal distension, ataxia, diarrhoea, depression, recumbency and shock

A

Feed hay

Antacids - magnesium carbonate / magnesium hydroxide

A
RUMENITOMY - most important 
5 L of sodium bicarbonate IV 
Balanced fluids for 12-24h
NSAIDs
Antibiotics 
Calcium borogluconate

A

Correct mixing of diets
Don’t allow access to feed stores
