Clinical features of viral rhinitis
burning sensation at the back of nose , nasal stuffiness, rhinorrhoea and sneezing. low-grade fever and chills
Initially, nasal discharge is watery and profuse but may become mucopurulent due to sec- ondary bacterial invasion.
Agents causing Secondary infections of viral rhinitis
Streptococcus haemolyticus, pneumococcus, Staphylococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Moraxella catarrhalis.
Treatment for viral rhinitis
Bed rest Plenty of fluids antihistaminics nasal decongestants Analgesics Antibiotics only for 2o infection
