Define acute leukaemia
A
Often referred to as a cancer of the blood.
A progressive, malignant disease of the blood-forming organs, characterised by distorted proliferation and development of leukocytes and their precursors in the blood and bone marrow.

50-60%

What symptoms are seen in patients with acute leukaemia?
A
Bone marrow failure
Bruising
Blood in urine
Bleeding in the mouth

When do you see gum hypertrophy with leukaemia?
A
Some types of leukaemia can cause tissue inflammation. Typically those with a monocytic type to their leukaemia get gum hypertrophy
