S- gram + cocci, ham/mayo/potato salad, preformed toxin

Incubation period, common sx
2-5 days
1-2 wks= watery/steatorrhea, bloating flatulence
2-6wk- shellfish- fatigue/malaise/wl/ jaundice
1-2 days, more so watery diarrhea
1-3 days, N/V/ab cramps, sx last 1-2 days
Listeria monocytogenes
Shigella
Toxoplasma gondii
Vibrio vulnificus
Transmission and sx
Cheese- flu like, fetal death, premature delivery
Produce, sexual, daycare- F/ab pain, diarrhea
Cat litter, undercooked meats, flu like- congenital toxoplasmosis
Raw/undercooked shellfish- sepsis
Empiric therapy for bloody diarrhea in children
Salmonella typhi
2nd wk
3rd wk of illness
no benefit, can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome
2nd- ab pain, rose spots
3rd- HSM, intestinal bleeding
1 cause of acute gastroenteritis
C diff toxin results in
Entamoeba incubation period
