Cholesterol (80%), pigment, Mixed
What are the chances of pain from gall stones?
2% per year for 10 years
What are the causes of biliary colic?
blocked cystic duct and / or blocked bile duct
Where is the gall bladder located?
RUQ
What are the primary symptoms of biliary colic?
RUQ pain, steady pain that last several hours, vomiting, nausea, restlessness and no relief.
What is the difference between a sign and symptom?
symptoms are what the patient explains to you and signs are what the physician finds.
What is the sign that we use to diagnose gall bladder problems?
Murphy Sign / Test
What are the complication of cholecystitis?
Gangrene, infection, perforation, sepsis
What is the best way to test for cholecystitis?
Ultrasound, WBC, hepatic profile
