- Abdo pain <72 hours
- Vomiting 1-3 times
- Facial flush
- Tenderness concentrated on RIF
- Anterior tenderness on rectal examination – not really done for this condition
- Fever between 37.3 and 38.5
- No evidence of UTI on urine microscopy

what is the most common cause of acute cholecystitis?
gallstone obstruction of the cystic duct
main signs of acute cholecystitis
- RUQ (constant) pin
- Radiates to right shoulder
- Severe tenderness in RUQ
- Often pyrexial
- Duration >24 hours
- Acalculous (meaning no stone causing acute cholecystitis, most common cause is DM
main signs of biliary colic
- Epigastric or RUQ pain (not so colicky)
- Radiates to back
- Moderate or absent tenderness over gallbladder
- Often normal temperature
- Duration of pain is only a few hours.
