Action Potentials Flashcards

1
Q

Why is the SA node the pacemaker of the heart?

A

Fastest to depolarise,

Whichever site can depolarise the fastest will always be the pacemaker therefore the SA node gets the job

Q

What other fibres in the heart (aside from the nodes) have pacemaker potential?

A

Purkinje fibre

They have fast sodium channels to help it conduct quickly

Unstable rmp like a conducting cell
