Q

COSTUMED GUEST: I don’t see why not. They might look nice in heather gray terry cloth leotards. I have some fabric swatches in my bag if you’d like to see. (MARTY, MILLIE, and MINNIE pantomime delight.)

NELLIE: Sure thing. (NELLIE and COSTUMED GUEST start toward UP RIGHT EXIT.)

Pg. 34

A

CHRISTINE: Wait, Freddie, is it a good idea to let Nellie go to the Night Crusader–uh–Yak Man’s room?

Q

LOLA: (Attempts to get into FREDDIE’S line of sight, but he turns away again.) I think the murderer might use my missing knitting needle to murder his or her next victim.

Pg. 35

A

CHRISTINE: A knitting needle through the throat could certainly cause some damage.

FREDDIE: I never thought of that. Thanks for letting me know. Now why don’t you go to your room? I’m getting dizzy.

Pg. 35

A

Q

FREDDIE: Lola brings up a good point.

Pg. 35

A

CHRISTINE: I hate to admit it, but she’s right. There’s a good chance that her needle could end up being the next murder weapon if we can’t solve this.

Q

FREDDIE: Do you really think the murderer will come after you next?

Pg. 35

A

CHRISTINE: It make sense, doesn’t it? Everyone who’s been murdered is a member of the Knotting family. There’s no better opportunity to murder an entire family than at a family reunion.

Q

FREDDIE: We shouldn’t let the other guests know that we’ve figured out a connection between all of the victims. From now on, we will keep the clues to ourselves.

Pg. 36

A

CHRISTINE: Oh, you’re talking more and more like a real detective every minutes! I could just give you kisses all over! (Kisses FREDDIE.) What are we going to do now?

Pg. 36

A

Q

Pg. 37

A

CHRISTINE: I don’t think the other guests would appreciate you looking through their belongings.

BEATRICE: I’ve been cooking at Wilcox’s Western Bed and Breakfast for almost 20 years. Do you really think I would have waited this long if I wanted to murder Mrs. Wilcox?

Q

JOSIE: I’m nit sure.mint sounded like a woman, but we know it can’t be his wife.

FREDDIE: Why not?

JOSIE: She’s in the freezer.

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: (To FREDDIE.) Remember that little incident with the rifle, pumpkin?

16
Q

FREDDIE: Oh, right. Interesting observation, Josie. (To CHRISTINE.) What should I do?

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: Go and see who robe has in his room, cupcake.

17
Q

JOSIE: I don’t like this situation. Not one bit.

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: I’m sure there is a logical explanation for why Robert has someone in his room with him.

18
Q

FREDDIE: (ENTERS UP RIGHT with ROBERT and SUZANNE, who is wearing an evening gown again.) Look who I found in Robert’s room.

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: Suzanne?

19
Q

SUZANNE: (To CHRISTINE and JOSIE.) You wanted to see us, darlings?

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: What were you doing in Roberts room?

20
Q

FREDDIE: You were told to stay in your own rooms.

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: Do you realize how suspicious this looks?

21
Q

SUZANNE: What suspicious about this? Robert and I were only having a little discussion, darling.

Pg. 40

A

CHRISTINE: You don’t think there’s anything suspicious about two people whose spouses have just been murdered getting together for a secret conversation?

22
Q

FREDDIE: You wouldn’t be accused of anything if you had just stayed in your rooms like you were told to.

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: Doesn’t anyone follow directions anymore?

23
Q

LOLA: Freddie, I am so sorry to startle you. I am here on business.

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: Business?

24
Q

LOLA: Yes, I was sitting in my room with nothing to do on account of my missing knitting needle, and it struck me like lighting. I should help you catch the murderer. (To FREDDIE.) I will your assistant.

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: Freddie already has an assistant.

25
Q

LOLA: Who?

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: Me.

26
Q

LOLA: It’s for protection, of course. You don’t think I’m going to let some murderer come and murder me with my own knitting needle, do you?

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: It wouldn’t bother me.

27
Q

FREDDIE: That’s it. We can’t have everyone in and out of their rooms like this . And carrying around weapons, no less. Someone is going to get hurt.

Pg. 41

A

CHRISTINE: Or murdered.

28
Q

FREDDIE: I know you all have your reasons. But you need to realize that three people have been murdered. We don’t know if the murderer will strike again.

Pg. 42

A

CHRISTINE: And the murderer is someone in this room.

29
Q

SUZANNE: If you ask me, I think it’s Beatrice or Connie or maybe even both. They were overheard talking and–

Pg. 42

A

CHRISTINE: Yes, we know. Some of you suspect each other, and for good reason. I think the best thing to do would be to air out all of our suspiscions. Who knows, it may help Freddie get closer to discovering the murderer.

30
Q

COSTUMED GUEST: If you’re going to point the finger at me just because no one else is, then why not point the finger at the two people who haven’t been accused yet–Freddie and Christine.

Pg. 46

A

CHRISTINE: Us?

31
Q

JOSIE: It does seem awfully suspicious that the two of you keep insisting that we stay I our rooms, all the while having free reign over the rest of the bed and breakfast.

Pg. 46

A

CHRISITNE: But I would never! And fuzzy-wuzzy Freddie is too sweet to hurt a fly!

32
Q

CONNIE: Freddie and Christine were also in this room when the fuse popped. That means they didn’t murder Stefan, either.

Pg. 46

A

CHRISTINE: It couldn’t be us, but it could have been any of you. Some of you have the motive to murder, and some of you have the opportunity. Freddie, what you need to figure out is who had both the motive and the opportunity.

33
Q

FREDDIE: (Looks at notebook.) What’s this?

Pg. 47

A

CHRISTINE: (Looks at the notebook.) Why, it looks like interrogation questions. Aw! Did you come up with these all by yourself?

34
Q

FREDDIE: Well, I–

Pg. 47

A

CHRISTINE: You said you don’t know what to do, but you know exactly what to do, my little Sherlock Holmes.

35
Q

FREDDIE: What can I say? All right. Let’s see, the first question is for… Well, those are all of the questions I have.

Pg. 47/48

A

CHRISTINE: Do you have any idea who the murder is?
