Act 1, Scene 2 Flashcards
JOSIE: I’m afraid my review of this place keeps getting worse and worse. Who wants to stay at a bed and breakfast where a murderer is on the loose? That’s a sure-fire way to ruin a vacation.
RACHEL: What are we going to do now?
Pg. 15
CHRISTINE: We’re not the only people on this island. In there anyway we can reach someone else for help?
JOSIE: And there’s no rain stopping dance?
RACHEL: Not that I know of.
Pg. 16
CHRISTINE: Freddie, this is your chance.
FREDDIE: I’m not even enrolled in the police academy yet.
Pg.16
CHRISTINE: Well, it’s never too soon to practice playing detective. Oh, sweetie! I’m so excited for you.
FREDDIE: I don’t even know where to begin.
Pg. 16
CHRISTINE: Just use the skills you’ve learned in mall security.
BEATRICE: I’m going to prepare a smorgasbord tonight– stuffed chicken, fried chicken, roasted chicken, and chicken potpie. We decided to put Mrs. Wilcox in the freezer, and I had to take most of the food out to fit the body in there.
Pg. 15
CHRISTINE: I can’t believe this has happened.
ROBERT: (Looks outside.) We’re stuck here until the storm blows over.
Pg. 16
CHRISTINE: You mean we’re trapped here with a murderer?
FREDDIE: My chance? For what?
Pg. 16
CHRISTINE: To try to solve your first murder case.
FREDDIE: But… but…
Pg. 16
CHRISTINE: If you do a good job, I might give you a gold star. And if you do an extra good job, you may even get a lollipop.
JOSIE: This guy’s going to figure out who murdered Mrs. Wilcox? He’s a nine-year-old trapped inside a 30-year-old’s body.
Pg. 17
CHRISTINE: At least let him try.
RACHEL: I suppose my comment was in poor taste.
BEATRICE: Now what?
FREDDIE: I don’t know.
Pg. 17
CHRISTINE: Maybe you should try to figure out who had the opportunity to murder Aunt Gretchen. Who had access to the hallway?
FREDDIE: Okay. Well, who did have access to the hallway?
Pg. 17
CHRISTINE: I suppose only the guests who were in their rooms.
NELLIE: I could sure stand to kick back for a while, myself.
Pg. 19
CHRISTINE: (To FREDDIE.) We should take a break, too. A nice Mao before supper could do us some good. It’s been a stressful day.
RACHEL: (Stands.) Christine?
Pg. 23
CHRISTINE: Oh, Rachel. You’re out here.
RACHEL: Yes, I decided to do a little reading. I thought the two of you were going to take a nap.
Pg.23
CHRISTINE: We got back to the room, and I decided I just couldn’t rest. Not until I know who murdered Aunt Gretchen.
ROBERT: (ENTERS UP RIGHT.) Rachel? Are you out here?
Pg. 24
CHRISTINE: Robert, did you hear that? It sounded like a gun shot.
