Act 1, Scene 5 Flashcards
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth united through love
My dearest partner of greatness
Lady Macbeth is determined that her husband will become King but is worried that he mightn’t be able to make the tough decisions
Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be what thou art promised. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness
Lady Macbeth hopes that her strong and persuasive words will help push us husband to becoming king
Hie thee hither, that i may pour my spirits in thine ear, and chastise with the valour of my tongue all that impedes thee from the golden round
Macbeth confirms that Duncan will be murdered at their castle
The raven himself is hoarse that croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements
Lady Macbeth asks the evil spirits to help with the murderous intentions
Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty
Lady Macbeth asks the night and darkness to help her cover her murderous actions
Come, thick night, and pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell
Lady Macbeth says she can see how their future is going to pan out
And I feel now the future in the instant
Lady Macbeth instructs Macbeth to become cunning and deceptive in order to hide their true intentions
To beguile the time, look like the time….look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t…..and you shall put this night’s great business into my dispatch
