ACS and AMI

Define ACS (acute coronary syndromes).

Any sudden cardiac event suspected or proven to be due to a problem with the coronary arteries. Problems arise due to myocardial ischaemia - unstable angina or MI.

Define MI (myocardial infarction).

Answer 2

Cell death due to ischaemia. This can be a major MI (complete coronary artery occlusion) or minor/transient MI (partial coronary artery occlusion).
