- polyarthralgia
- elevated ESR or elevated CRP

how do we treat RHD?
- prevent GABHS
- treat strep tonsillitis/pharyngitis
what do we give for treatment of tonsillitis/pharyngitis?
- penicillin G IM once
- penicillin V PO for 10 days
- sulfa PO for 10 days
- erythromycin PO for 10 days
when do we give erythromycin over penicillin?
when the patient is allergic to penicillin
what are 6 key signs of Kawasaki disease?
- high fever x 5 days; unresponsive to antibiotics
- chills
- headache/ irritability
- distinct rashes
- vomiting/diarrhea/ abdominal pain
- joint pain
describe the rash seen with Kawasaki disease
strawberry tongue, palmar erythema
how do we treat Kawasaki disease?
IV immunoglobulin (IVIG)
aspirin (fever and anticoagulant)
