What is standard 1?
Pharms and PharmTechs must act professionally
What is standard 2?
Pharms and PharmTechs must establish and maintain professional relationships with their patients.
What is standard 3?
Pharms must consider appropriate information for each patient.
What is standard 4?
Pharms must determine whether a patient has or is likely to have a drug therapy problem.
What is standard 5?
If a Pharm determines that a patient has or is likely to have a drug therapy problem, they must take action.
If a PharmTech determines there is a drug therapy problem, they must refer the patient to the Pharm
What is standard 6?
For a schedule 1 drug/blood product, a Pharm must determine that the prescription is appropriate, and the Pharm or PharmTech must make sure the prescription is complete.
What is standard 7?
Each time a schedule 1 drug/blood is dispensed, they must ensure that it is filled correctly, appropriate dosing procedures are used, it is properly packaged, the container is labelled properly, and a final check is performed.
What is standard 8?
Each time a schedule 1 is dispensed or a schedule 2 is sold, the patient’s identity must be confirmed and the Pharm must provide the patient with enough info on the drug therapy.
What is standard 9?
Pharm/PharmTech must offer assistance to a patient wishing to purchase schedule 3 drug or device
What is standard 10?
Each time a drug/blood product is compounded, the Pharm or PharmTech must must ensure it was prepared according to a written compounding formula and a written preparation process.
What is standard 11?
A Pharm that prescribes a schedule 1 must understand the framework to prescribe it and comply.
What is standard 12?
A Pharm that adapts a prescription must:
- Have the original prescription
- Determine adapting is appropriate
- Document adaptation
- Inform original prescriber
What is standard 13?
A Pharm who prescribes for emergency purposes must:
- Be satisfied that it is not possible for the patient to reach someone else to get a prescription
- Be satisfied that there is an immediate need for the drug therapy
- Only prescribe minimum amount needed
What is standard 14?
A Pharm must prescribe based on:
- The Pharm’s own assessment of the patient
- A recommendation from a prescriber
- A consultation with another health professional
What is standard 15?
A Pharm who prescribes a drug or blood product based on the Pharm’s assessment must not dispense the drug himself unless:
- The Pharm thinks they NEED to
- The patient asks for them to

- Ensure the environment is appropriate
