What is principle 1?
Hold the well-being of each patient to be my primary consideration.
How will I uphold principle 1?
Act in the best interest of the patient Make informed decisions Provide care from safe and proven sources Care that is good quality = no recalls Safeguard the vulnerable (Kids, elders, disabilities) Prevent harm to each patient Avoid conflict of interest Do not accept gifts Ask for help when needed

Respect each patient’s autonomy and dignity

Listen to patients values and health goals
Provide the patient with info to make an informed decision.
Respect the right of a competent patient to accept or reject any treatment, care, or other professional services.
Avoid discriminating
Give each patient access to information in that patient’s health record.

Maintain a professional relationship with each patient

Treat each patient politely
Don’t date your patients
Limit treatment to immediate family members

Respect each patient’s right to confidentiality
