ACP Medications Flashcards
What is Atropine used for
Sinus brad, afib, 1st & 2nd degree type I
Atropine MOA
Competitively blocks effects of acetylcholine in muscarinic receptors. Inhibits PNS to increase hr
What is lidocaine
Na channel blocker, class 1b
What is amiodarone used for
Ventricular dysrhythmias, can use for vtach (stable) instead of cardioversion
Amiodarone moa
Class III (K+) anti arrhythmic that acts directly on myocardium to delay repolarization and increase duration of action potential
What anti-arrhythmic has effects from other classes as well as its own?
Amiodarone
What is adenosine used for
SVT
Adenosine moa
Briefly depresses SA node rate and slows AV conduction
Dopamine moa
Selective beta 1 agonist, alpha agonist, vasopressor
What is dopamine used for
Improve bp and cardiac output. Signs of fluid overload (unable to give NS), rosc, sepsis, symptomatic bradycardia
Morphine moa
Decrease effects of SNS
Midazolam moa
Decrease neuronal response to stimuli, increase binding of GABA to produce desired effect
What is calcium gluconate used for
Hyperkalemia
