Four factors that contribute to the development of acne lesions:
1) an abnormal shedding of keratinocytes within pilosebaceous unit
2) increased production of sebum by sebaceous glands
3) presence of the anaerobic propionibacterium acne
4) inflammation

Nursing considerations for treatment
Usually given at night
Bleaching w/ benzoyl peroxide
Use of sunscreen/ limit sun exposure
