why is universal indicator more useful
it gives a more exact answer of how acidic or alkaline the substance is
Why could the simple indicators still be useful despite this
They are still useful for simply finding out whether a solution is acidic or alkaline. Also these simple indicators give a clear colour difference if there was a liquid with a close pH. Adding to this simple indicators will only change at a specific pH.
All acids contain…
Hydrogen ions (H+)
All alkalis contain…
Hydroxide ions (OH-)
