Q

What is an alkali?

A

has a pH greater than 7 litmus à blue universal à blue phenolphthalein à pink dissolves in water to produce –OH(aq) ions proton (H+) acceptor a base reacts with an acid to neutralise it forming a salt and water

Q

What is an ionic equation

A

An ionic equation is one which does not include spectator ions, it is thus somewhat simplified and generic. spectator ions – ions which do not change in charge of physical state during the course of a reaction.
