ACFT Flashcards
What is the difference between groundspeed and indicated airspeed?
Indicated airspeed is groundspeed +/- wind speed
Groundspeed is how fast the aircraft is moving compared to ground
@@@@
What are the 4 forces acting on an aeroplane?
Drag, Lift, Thrust & Gravity/weight
How many percent is the bypass ratio when accelerating the jet engine?
80-85 %
What are the basic parts in a jet engine?
Air intake, compressor, combustion chamber, Turbines and exhaust
What are the two groups of drag?
Induced drag
Parasite drag
What are parasite drags two sub groups?
1) Profile drag: form and skin
2) Interference drag
What are the difference between a stable, neutrally stable and unstable aircraft?
STABLE aircraft tends to return to its original
condition after being disturbed.
NEUTRALLY STABLE aircraft will
assume a new position
UNSTABLE aircraft will continue to
diverge from its original position
What three axes does the aircraft do
1) Yaw
2) Pitch
3) Roll
1) Vertical
2) Lateral
3) Longitudinal
What does ailerons do?
They increase lift on one wing and reduce lift on the other.
What does the elevator do?
Change the amount of lift generated
What does the rudder do?
Change the amount of yaw generated
