What are the ampullae?
These are paired enlargements of the ductus deferens, formed because of a significant increase in the mucosa within the ampullae.
Where do the ampullae open into?
Directly into pelvic urethra
What are the vesicular glands?
Paired glands located dorsocranial to the pelvic urethrea. These look very different for each species.
Where do the vesicular glands empty their secretions?
Directly into the pelvic urethra

Where is the prostate located?
Near the junction of the urinary bladder and the pelvic urethra
What does the prostate look like?
There is WIDE species variation, some with various lobes. Some may have a corpus prostate, being a body, and some have a disseminate prostate, being glandular tissue spread diffusely across the outside of the urethra. Some may have some of both.
What are the bulbourethral glands?
Small, ovoid, paired glands located on either side of the pelvic urethra near the ischial arch. They are quite dense because they contain a lot of fibrous CT.
