What are helplines?
Government funded scheme which provide free telephone advice for problems such as debt and domestic abuse
What is the Citizen’s Advice Bureau?
They provide free advice on housing issues, welfare benefits and debt problems. They also have contact with local solicitors who are willing to give cheap or free advice
What are Law Centres?
They operate in poorer areas and employ solicitors and barristers who advise on problems concerning housing, employment, welfare benefits and immigration
What are trade unions?
They offer their members free legal advice and representation for all work related problems
What are Schemes Run by Lawyers?
Solicitors will offer a free half hour interview and may offer them their services ‘pro-bono’
What are ways of privately funding a case?
Paying for a solicitor or barrister, private legal insurance and conditional fee agreement
When is Civil Legal Aid available?
After passing a means and merits test
