What are the types of deviance?
Admired deviance, odd behaviour, bad behaviour.
What is Actus rea?
Guilty act
What is mens rea?
Guilty mind
What is strict liability?
When mens rea is not required because the ac titself is bad enough to convict
What is self defence?
Self defence is used to defend, if it can be probed that the act was self defence then it is no longer a crime
Types of offences
Summary offences - less serious offences, Indictable offences- more serious offences
Types of sanctions
Formal - official bodies such as the police and courts. Informal - unofficial breaking of rules like friendship
Types of court sanctions
Custodial, community , discharge and fines
Types of police sanctions
Cautions, conditional conditions, penalty notices
