What is crime?
Crime is an act that breaks the law of a country and is punishable
What does the legal definition of crime mention?
Crime includes two elements that are the actus reus and mens rea
What is the actus renus?
The guilty act
What is the mens rea?
The guilty mind
What is a caution?
A caution is a warning for a minor offence
What is a conditional caution?
A caution given but you have to agree to certain rules and regulations
What is a custodial sentence?
When you are sent to prison for a period of time depending on the crime
What is a community sentence?
When you must take part in unpaid labour and or follow set rules like curfew
What are fines?
They are financial penalties
What is deviance?
Deviance is behaviour that goes against the social norms and offends
What are norms?
Norms are social expectations that guide behaviour
What are moral codes?
They are morals or good ways of acting
What are values?
Values are rules shared by most people in a given culture
What is the difference between crime and deviance?
Deviance is non conformity that goes against social and cultural norms.
Crime is an illegal act that is punishable.
