How do you link yourself to Entain’s value of doing what’s right?
For me, ‘doing what’s right’ means acting ethically, even when it’s not the easiest path. In a previous role, I noticed a recreational customer placing a large, high-risk bet that deviated significantly from his usual betting behavior. My colleague’s advice was to disregard it, but I felt it was crucial to investigate further. While I didn’t want to undermine my colleague publicly, I knew I couldn’t ignore my concerns. I carefully recorded the bet details and the customer’s information and then discussed the situation privately with my manager. My manager shared my concerns, and the matter was escalated to the risk team. The customer was contacted, and after a review, his account was adjusted. I believe this situation highlighted the importance of ethical decision-making, even when faced with differing opinions. I’m drawn to Entain’s commitment to ‘doing what’s right,’ and I’m confident I can contribute to a culture that values responsible gaming and customer well-being.
How do you link yourself to Entain’s value of going beyond?
I’m drawn to Entain’s ‘Go Beyond’ value, particularly the emphasis on curiosity and continuous improvement. At Sky Betting & Gaming, I was committed to not just fulfilling my trading duties but also actively contributing beyond the minimum requirements. I regularly undertook independent research into our markets, identifying areas for potential growth and developing key recommendations that I presented to the team. Additionally, I volunteered to mentor new traders, creating and delivering targeted training sessions on trading best practices. I believe in constantly seeking ways to learn, develop, and contribute to the team’s success.
How do you link yourself to Entain’s value of winning together?
For me, ‘Winning Together’ is about humility and recognizing that team success is more important than individual accolades. At Sky Betting and Gaming, I was publicly praised for a game’s performance. However, the truth was that my mentee had been instrumental in its success, coming up with many of the winning boost selections. Although I was initially scheduled to trade the game, I had used it as an opportunity to teach him. I didn’t hesitate to redirect the praise to him in our team’s recognition channel. It was important for me to acknowledge his contributions and ensure he received the credit he deserved. Seeing his confidence grow and knowing he felt valued was far more rewarding than any personal recognition. I believe that celebrating the achievements of others is a key aspect of ‘winning together.
How do you link yourself to Entain’s value of keeping it simple?
Entain’s value of ‘Keeping it Simple’ is something I’ve learned to appreciate and prioritize, particularly during my university experience. Initially, I struggled with this. My early essays and coursework were often criticized for overcomplicating things, using unnecessary jargon, and being generally too wordy. I had to adapt my writing style significantly. The transition from A-levels, where this approach was sometimes rewarded, to university, where it was actively discouraged, was challenging. However, over the three years, I consciously worked on simplifying my writing. I learned to focus on clearly articulating my arguments, using precise language, and structuring my essays logically. By the end of my degree, I had completely overcome this tendency, and my work consistently received positive feedback for its clarity and conciseness.
