What are the 9 subdivisions of the abdomen
1st row- Right Hypochondriac region, epigastric regions, Left hypochondriac region
2nd row- Right lumbar region, umbilical region, Left Lumbar region
3rd row- Right iliac region, hypogastric region, Left iliac region.
What are the 3 basic layers of the GI tract
Serous layer- outer epithelial layer
muscular layer- responsible for movement of lumen contents
mucosal- secretes mucus, involved in absorption.
What are the 3 parts of the small intestine
Duodenum (retro-peritoneal), Jejunum and ileum (site of absorptions)

absorption of water
forms faeces
expelling faeces

Ascending, Transverse, descending and sigmoidal.
