connects the lesser curvature of the stomach and the proximal part of the duodenum to the liver
What forms the GI tract?

What is peristalsis?
series of ring-like contraction waves; responsible for mixing masticated food and emptying contents of stomach
What are the parts of the small intestine?
duodenum, jejunum, and ileum
What are the parts of the large intestine?

What does the abdominal aorta supply?
GI tract, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver
What are the main branches of the abdominal aorta?
celiac trunk, and superior and inferior mesenteric arteries
What is the portal venous system?
collects blood from the abdominal part of the GI tract, pancreas, spleen, and most of gallbladder, and carries it to the liver
What is the main channel of the portal venous system?
hepatic portal vein
What forms the hepatic portal vein?
superior mesenteric and splenic vein
What supplies the abdominal part of the esophagus?
esophageal branches of the left gastric artery (branch of celiac trunk), and left inferior phrenic artery
