abbas chapter 3 Flashcards
TNF and IL-1
released by macrophages and epi cells when they recognize microbes
cause dendritic cells to round up and lose adherences to epi cells
move to lymph nodes
MHC I
differences between individual is in the alpha 1 and alpha 2 domains of alpha chain
alpha 3 invariant and has coreceptor for CD8
alpha 1 and alpha 2 make cleft - floor of cleft has antigen binding site (can accommodate 8-10 residue chain)
MHC II
alpha and beta chains - amino terminal portions = alpha 1 and beta 1
make cleft (can accomidate 10-30 residues)
beta 2 has sites for CD4
only on APC and macrophages and B lymph
MHC genes
codominantly expressed 3 polymorphic class I and class II class I = HLA-A/B/C class II = HLA-DR/DQ/DP
where do MHC proteins acquire cargo?
during biosynthesis
MHC I from cytoplasm
MHC II from intracellular vesicles
