ABA textbook pgs wk. 3 Flashcards
1
Q
Function-based Definition
A
- measure and treat a socially significant target behavior in a safe and meaningful way
- in natural environment
2
Q
Topography-based Definition
A
- identify the target behavior by the shape or form of the behavior
3
Q
Definition of Target Behavior
A
- accurate, complete and concise description of the behavior to be changed and therefore measured
- objective, clear, complete
4
Q
Social Validity
A
- the target behavior(s) are important and will make a positive and meaningful change
5
Q
Repeatability
A
- aka “countability”
- instances of a behavior can occur repeatedly through time
- behavior can be counted
6
Q
Temporal Extent
A
- every instance of behavior occurs during some amount of time
- duration of behavior can be measured
7
Q
Temporal Locus
A
- every instance of behavior occurs at a certain point in time with respect to other events
- when behavior occurs can be measured
(the LOCUSt occur at a certain time of year)
8
Q
Rate
A
- the number of responses per unit of time (count/time)
- count = number of responses
- time = observation period in which the count was obtained
9
Q
Free Operant
A
- behaviors that have discrete onset and offsets
- do not depend on discriminative stimuli
- involve minimal displacement
10
Q
Discrete Trials
A
- controlled by a given opportunity to emit the response
- a single cycle of instruction that may be repeated
several times until a skill is mastered
11
Q
Celeration
A
- how rates of response change over time
- acceleration, deceleration
12
Q
Duration
A
- the amount of time from the onset to the end point of a response
- the basic measure of temporal extent
13
Q
Latency
A
- a measure of the elapsed time between the onset of a stimulus and a subsequent response
14
Q
Interresponse Time (IRT)
A
- a measure of the amount of time that elapses between two consecutive instances of a behavior
15
Q
Percentage
A
- a ratio formed by combining the same dimensional quantities
- count or time divided by duration
