Relaxing
What does a p wave show
Atrial systole (contraction)
What does QRS show
Ventricular systole
What is a t wave
Relaxation of ventricles
What is each peak on the ecg
Each peak is one heart beat
Why is there a gap in ecg
The gap allows the atria to empty so blood can flow down to the ventricles
How does an ecg work
Electrodes are placed on the chest
These detect electrical impulses of the heart and send it onto a computer to be read and analysed
What are ecgs used for
They can be used to diagnose many heart conditions
What is bradycardia
When the heart rate is to slow
What is tachycardia
When someone’s heart rate is to height
Above 100 bpm
What is arrhythmia
When there’s irregular heart rhythm
