- Members of the Political Elites had acquired Churchland and had no desire to return it.
What changes did Mary make at the beginning of her reign?
- 1553 : Repealed the Act of Supremacy and the Act of Repeal which reversed all the Edwardian Reforms and restored the church to what it had been in 1547.
What Religious changes did Mary make in 1554?
- Royal injunctions issued - Married Clergy were deprived of their livings, 243 priests lost their posts and 10-25% of the Clergy were deprived for having been married.
