A
  • concentrate on flight path control and is in charge of aircraft control.
  • at all times monitor any FD coupling functions.
  • keep the aircraft within prescribed parameters.
  • aim for precise, smooth and safe operation;
  • respond according to crew communication procedures to all call outs
  • initiate the checklist and respond as described in SOP

A
  • assist the PF with controlling, achieving and maintaining the required / maximum power setting as briefed.
  • monitor flight path, navigation, power settings, procedures, aircraft systems and FD coupling functions.
  • read and perform checklist actions as prescribed in SOP.
  • support PF with all assistance and information to reduce his workload.
  • do all the administrative work in the cockpit, including all radio communications.
  • take over control in case of incapacitation.
  • perform call outs in accordance with crew communication procedures.
  • normally perform the passenger briefing.

When should a MAYDAY call be sent?

A
  1. Dual engine failure
  2. Engine fire
  3. Fire/smoke on board
  4. Helicopter control problems due to failure of vital systems
  5. Pilot incapacitation
  6. Low on fuel - less than final reserve before landing
  7. Unruly passengers endangering flight safety
  8. Failure of systems or indications that may develop into a critical situation

When should a go-around be initiated?

A

When a full scale deviation from localizer or glide slope path occurs when more than 500 feet above DA(H)/MDA(H), and when half scale deflection occurs from localizer or glide slope , when 500 feet or less from DA(H)/MDA(H).
