What must you eat to remain healthy?
A balanced diet
What is a balanced diet?
A diet that contains the correct amount of food from each of the 7 food groups
What is malnutrition?
A diet that isn’t balanced.
Person could be lacking or eating excessive amounts of a specific nutrient.
What is starvation?
Person is not getting enough of any food.
What can starvation lead to?
Tiredness and wasting diseases.
How can people become obese?
When they eat the wrong types of food and too much food.
What effect does obesity have on the heart?
Puts a strain on the heart. This is because the heart has to pump more blood to the tissues if you are carrying extra weight.
If you are obese can this have a fatal ending?
Yes people who are obese are more likely to suffer from a heart attack.
How does a heart attack occur?
This is when fatty deposits form blood clots in the vessels leading to the heart muscle. A heart occurs because the blood clots stop the heart from getting oxygen.
How does a stroke occur?
When fatty deposits get stuck in a vessel going to the brain.
What can you eat less of to try and prevent heart attacks and strokes?
Processed foods.
