A. Darwins theory of natrual selection Flashcards
Summarize (explain) Darwin’s theory of natural selection
Natural selection means that animal r plants with traits that helps them to survive.
What is artificial selection?
Artificial selection is when humans pick the best animal or plant to breed (to make animals or plants make more of them) to get specific traits.
What is heritability?
Heritability is how much of something you have from your parents.
What is the struggle for survival?
The struggle of survival is when too many animals or plants need the same thing for them to survive.
What is the definition of natrual selection?
When helpful traits help living things have babies.
What is fitness?
Fitness is how good an organism (living things) is at susrviving and having babies
How does natural selection act on existing variation (diffrences beetween the same animal)
Natural selection works with the traits that already exist
Define (explain) species
Species are animals or plants that can have babies together and those babies can have babies.
What is population?
Population are all the animals or plants of the same type in certain area.
Describe the four principles of natural selection.
- Variation: Differences between animals in a species. 2. Overproduction: More babies then resources (living things) survive. 3. Adaptation: Traits that help survival. 4. Descent with Modification: Traits are passed down and become more common over generation.
