A couple review things Flashcards
1
Q
Calculate the oxygen content of blood in arterial blood at 97.5% Hb saturation, and in venous blood at 70% Hb saturation.
A
Arterial blood:
Dissolved O2: .003 mlO2/dl/mmHg X 100mmHg = .3 mlO2/dl.
Hb-bound: 1.34 ml/gm x 15 gm/dl x .975 = 19.6 mlO2/dl
19.6 + .3 = 19.9 mlO2/dl
Venous blood:
Dissolved O2: .003mlO2/dl/mmHg X 40mmHg = .12 mlO2/dl.
Hb-bound: 1.34 ml/gm x 15 gm/dl x .70 = 14.1 mlO2/dl
14.1 + .12 = 14.2 mlO2/dl
2
Q
What is the partial pressure of H2O in alveolar air?
A
47 mmHg
3
Q
How do you calculate the partial pressure of oxygen in tracheal air?
A
Tracheal PO2 = (760 - 47) X .21
760 = atm pressure, 47 = partial pressure of water in inspired air, .21 is the percentage of O2 in air.
