17
Q

VOR Checkpoint

A

Used to determine the accuracy of a VOR using ground or airborne checkpoints.

18
Q

VOR Test Facilities (VOT)

A

Broadcast a signal for only the 360* radial enabling you to make precise VOR accuracy checks regardless of your position in relation to the test facility.

19
Q

Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI)

A

Combines a heading indicator and a VOR indicator in a single display.

20
Q

Distance Measuring Equipment (DME)

A

Provides a readout of the distance in n.m. to the associated VOR/DME or VORTAC site as well as groundspeed and ETA to the station.
Reliable up to 199 n.m. from the station depending on altitude and line-of-sight restrictions.

21
Q

Slant Range Distance

A

The result of horizontal and vertical distance to the DME. Error is greatest when directly above the station.
