94 Fuel Management 2 Flashcards

1
Q

Why fuel management

A

To ensure there is enough fuel to complete mission
To spot fuel leaks early
To check that aircraft fuel consumption matches predicted consumption
To be aware of fuel remaining in order to respond quickly to diversions or re-tasking

Q

Specific Air Range

A

SAR is a measure of the efficiency with which an aircraft flies through the air.
= Air distance covered / Fuel used
= True air speed / Fuel flow

Q

Corrective actions to fuel burn

A

Change aircraft speed to LRC – fuel flow improvement
Change altitude – Wind or fuel flow improvement
Change alternate – smaller fuel pedestal
Change route – shorter route more fuel
Change destination – stop early and refuel
