Initialized through #1 FMS
CT-142 GPS Inputs
Aircraft GPS to Emulated GPS GPS position Time Satellite information System status Altitude Ground speed Ground track TAS (from DADC)
GPS Outputs
Emulated GPS to User interface LCD display Provides Position and time Satellite information (how many satellites are visible, how many the GPS is tracking and which satellites they are) Altitude Ground track Ground speed TAS
NTS GPS Theory of Operation
TMT will allow operator to interact with one of six emulated GPS
Each GPS is capable of initialization, data entry, and navigation and maintains its own database of navigation information
There is only one aircraft GPS and the emulated GPS in no way affects the actual operation of the UNS-1C GPS card
The emulated GPS reflects the actual status and current data of the aircraft GPS on each emulated CDU and DID, when applicable. The emulated GPS is able to store 20 waypoints
Degraded operations
3 satellites
Failed
GPS with 3 satellites: Altitude information no longer available GPS failed GPS position become erratic and varies randomly with large errors Time on NTS continues to operate
