what is the culture of poverty?
the argument that poor people adopt certain practices that differ from those of “mainstream” society in order to adapt and survive in difficult economic circumstances.
what is “underclass”?
the idea that poor people are not only different from the mainstream in their inability to take advantage of opportunities, but are also deviant & to some extent a danger to society
