What is uveitis?
A
Inflammation of the uveal tract (strict definition)
Often used to refer to variety of intraocular inflammations involving the uvea, retina and retinal vessels (basically anything from the iris back)

Uveitis classifications?
A
- Anatomical: anterior or posterior
- Clinical presentation: acute/chronic, onset, duration, recurrence, remission, resistance
- Etiology: idiopathic/infectious/systemic (granulomatous/non-granulomatous)

Incidence and prevalence of uveitis?
A
Relatively common (incidence and prevalence)

Uveitis - gender frequency?
A
More common in women than men

Uveitis - age of onset?
A
Average: 30.7 years
Common in older adults (>65)
Also 5-10% of cases in children (<16)

Uveitis etiology classifications?
A
Idiopathic (50%): non-specific, specific
Trauma (20%)
Underlying systemic disease (20%)
Localized ocular condition (10%): infections/infestation
