9.1 Evolution Flashcards
1
Q
What is Microevolution
A
Small-scale allele variation within a species or population, in which the descendant is of the same taxonomic group as its ancestor. (Small changes that don’t result in a new species).
2
Q
What is Macroevolution
A
Changes in allele frequencies at or above species level over geologic time, in which the descendant is in a different taxonomic group as its ancestor. (Creates new species).
3
Q
What is Evolutionary Radiation
A
The increase in new morphological types or taxonomic diversity over a period of time.
