What are the various project roles within a project team?

A

Project Manager – responsible for design team coordination and project delivery

Architect – responsible for architectural design, coordinating design of other engineer and meeting legislation.

Quantity Surveyor – responsible for costing a building at all it stages; cost planning, procurement and tendering, valuations, variations etc.

Structural Engineer – responsible for structural design

MEP Services Engineer – responsible Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design.

Other consultants – AV/IT, Principal Designer, Landscaping, Specialist Consultants i.e. Acoustics, BR, Planning

Contract Administrator – EA/CA responsible for administering contract

Contractor responsible for carry out the construction works

Sub-Contractor - responsible for delivering specific works package under main-contractor.

If a member of your team was difficult or disruptive in a meeting how would you deal with it?

A

Analyse situation - understand the issue and impact
Address team member - inform of behavior, consider reason for disruption and request behavior change
No improvement, approach their manger and try and get resolved
Worst case - talk to client about replacing them

A

Determine the required role
Determine the scope of works required
Ask internally for companies BTP have worked with
Then ask design team for any recommendations
Discuss project and request for fee proposal
