What is RIDDOR?
• Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR 2013)
Explain RIDDOR?
• Duties to report to HSE certain serious workplace accidents, occupational disease and dangerous occurrences.
When must incidents must be recorded under RIDDOR?
• Recorded = over 3-day worker incapacitation period.
When must incidents must be reported under RIDDOR?
- Death and specified injuries i.e. fracture, amputations, burns etc.
- Reported = over 7-day worker incapacitation of worker – must be reported within 15-days.
- Non-fatal accidents to non-workers taken to hospital following injury.
- Dangerous occurrences – 27 near-miss events i.e. scaffold collapse, explosion, fire etc.
- Gas incidents – died, lost consciousness or taken to hospital.
- Occupational disease i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome, cancer, asthma etc.
