9/29/2015 - Conceptual Frameworks - The Neuman Model Flashcards
All forces or interaction influences external, or existing outside, the defined client system.
It is the source of interpersonal and extrapersonal stressors.
External Environment
The basic structure of survival factors.
Consists of basic survival abilities that are common to all humans.
Includes characteristics such as the individual’s genetic base, ego structure, organ strength, and normal temperature range.
Central Core
A continuum of wellness to illness, dynamic in nature, that is constantly subject to change.
Indicates that total system needs are being met.
Health
When the system produces less energy than the system needs.
Entropy
:(
Stressors that occur outside the person
(e.g., financial concerns)
Extrapersonal Stressors
All of the conditions, circumstances, and influences surrounding and affecting the development of an organism or person
Environment
Forms the outer boundary which should act as a protective buffer to keep the client system stable
(prevents stressor invasions keeping the system free from stressor reactions/symptomatology)
Flexible Line of Defense
A person who engages the advice or services of another person who is qualified to provide this service
Client
A process of helping people to assert control over the factors which affect their health and wellbeing.
Empowerment
Subconsciously developed by the client as a symbolic expression of wholeness.
It supersedes and encompasses the internal and external environments.
