Q

When does a neural signal ‘contain information’ about X?

A

When there is a systematic relationship between brain activity and X.

In order to read information from the brain about X one has to decide about what X actually is.

X could in principle be anything ( images / actions / letters / syllables / words/ …), but only if the relationship between neural activity and X is reproducible, can we develop specific BCIs for that X.
