8. Traps and appartnences. Flashcards
- Siphon.
Siphon is a bent tube installed between the boiler and boiler fitting that provides a water seal to prevent contact with steam.
- What is a grease interceptor?
It is a device designed with baffles to retard the flow of liquid passing through it. In the case of water containing grease, the flow through the separator is timed so that the liquid grease can gradually float to the top of the water. The baffles within the interceptor retain this liquid grease until it begins to congeal to about the consistency of heavy cream.
- Compound gauge.
It is pressure gauge that indicates vacuum in inches of mercury or pressure in PSI on the same gauge.
- Steam pressure gauge.
It is a boiler fitting that displays the amount of pressure in pounds per square inch inside the boiler.
- Steam pressure gauge operation.
The most common steam pressure gauge operates by the movement of a Bourdon Tube.
