tongue diagnosis is useful tongue body color nearly always shows true condition red= heat pale= cold

these are not the same as deficiency heat or deficiency cold which arise from def of yin or yang false heat and false cold the appearance is false, there is no heat or cold this rare usu only happen in extreme conditions

red cheeks, but red color is like powder rest of face is white irritability but also listlessness desire to lie with body curled up breathing is quiet, low voice thirst but no desire to drink or desire to drink warm fluids body feels hot but they like to be covered sore throat but without redness or swelling pale urine pulse: rapid, floating and big but empty pale and wet tongue

full condition denotes fullness of a pathogenic factor, not fullness of qi

condition characterized by an emptiness of the upright qi (zheng qi) and the absence of a pathogenic factor

empty condition

condition characterized by an emptiness of the upright qi with the presence of a lingering pathogenic factor that the upright qi is not fighting effectively

full-empty condition
